I made the cover :)

Hi friends..
Well, I'm just a little bit excited...  My layout made the cover of Australian Scrapbook Ideas magazine this month.. woo hoo.. This is the second time I've been fortunate enough to have one of my layouts featured on the cover, and both times, its been photos of my daughter, Ashlee.

This is the full pic of the layout.. One of my last for Graphic 45 design team

And, below, is my layout that was featured on the cover of the same magazine, a couple of years ago..

The original layout had a black and white photo, but, the magazine prefers colour photos for the cover (tip for anyone wanting to increase their chances of being published on a cover).

Thanks so much for visiting, I will be back soon, to share the other 2 layouts I made for the same issue of the magazine, all featuring the latest graphic 45 paper collections xo

Yes, Im still here :)

Hello everyone...

I have been gone for so long...  My life has just been so out of control busy the last few months. Some of you would know about my Dads accident, and how we almost lost him, and then the trauma to our family surrounding that, well, it just seems to have continued on from there. I wont go into a tonne of detail (as I'm sure you are all tired of hearing my tales of woe)  but, it has been one hell of a few months, that's for sure. Hopefully we are out the other side of it now, and life can go back to the calm, boring normal that I like  :)

I haven't done a lot of creating since my term with Graphic 45 finished. I was feeling a little burned out, then with all the medical dramas happening at home, my mojo has taken a holiday too. But I have been doing a few things, behind the scenes... One of the things I am most excited about is.........

I will be teaching classes at Paperific in Melbourne on the 29 - 31 August 2014.. The details will be available on the Paperific website on the 8th of July, if anyone is thinking of coming along. Scrapping with the stars - retreats will also have a stand at the show, Stacey and I will both be there, so, if you are planning on going to the show, please stop by our stand, and say hi...

And the other thing that has been keeping me busy is my new role as a designer for Brother Australia..  I have been playing with my Scan n cut die cutting machine, and loving it. My first project will be up on their blog etc in the next few days... Very exciting...

* * *

BUT, the biggest, and most exciting thing, that has kept me busy these past few months, is organising our 'Scrapping with the stars - retreat'.. For those of you, in Australia, who haven't heard of our retreat, please, go check out our blog, and FB page.. It is gearing up to be one of the biggest, and the best retreats in Australia. We have some amazing tutors, demonstrators, and fantastic sponsors, who have donated an incredible array of goodies. This really is one not to be missed... The venue is amazing, right on the beach, at Phillip Island. The rooms are lovely, and there is even an in ground pool...PLUS, we will have a bus service, running from Ballarat, through to Tullamarine Airport, then on to Phillip Island... The retreat will be held from Friday November 14th to Sunday 16th..

I do have 1 lonely little project to share today.. its a layout I did for Scrapbook Creations magazine, as member of the 'Colour Challenge' team..  the theme was wintery whites, blues, and silver...
Here is what I created. (sorry, but, the monochromatic colours don't photograph too well)

'Baby it's cold outside'

I used some diamond dust, on the top of the window, and fences, to make some 'snow'. And, as usual. lots of Manor House Creations flowers.

Thanks to anyone who still takes the time to call in to my blog, even after I have been so neglectful of it... Please, if you are still here, leave me a comment, so I know you were here...

Have a wonderful weekend

Scrapbook Creations Magazine - Colour challenge

Hi my friends...

Today, I want to share a layout with you, that I did as a member of the 'colour Challenge team' at Scrapbook Creations magazine. Each month, the team are given a colour palette, we need to design a layout, featuring all those colours.....
The colour palette last month was very masculine, with lots of blues, and green... As you know, my style is quite shabby, and feminine, so I struggled with these colours a little.. but, once I completed the layout, I was pretty happy with how it turned out. A very different one for me, but, I'm sure my 4 boys will appreciate the lack of 'shabby girly' in it  :)

I've given my dies a good workout in this LO. My favourite die at the moment is this cool 'chain link' die (used to attach the stars to the rosette)

Thanks for calling in, and for any comments...  I love to read comments, and always plan to visit everyone who takes the time out of their to write something.... but, time has been something I have been lacking sadly in the last few months... but, I have now reduced a lot of my scrapping commitments, out of necessity...  I was feeling overwhelmed by all I had to do, and wasn't loving anything about scrapbooking for a while there..  It was becoming a job, and a chore... I don't want that to happen, so, I've dropped a lot of things, and hope, now, to get the love of the craft back, and to be able to have the time to reconnect with all my scrappy online friends.. Thanks for sticking with me, and continuing to visit my blog, even though a lot of the time, I didn't reply to your lovely messages...  I promise things will be different from now on...

Some more inspiration-Graphic 45 and Manor House Creations

"I was blown away by ‘Botanical tea’, and while I adore every single collection Graphic 45 creates, I honestly have to say, that this one is my all-time favourite. I love every single page, and can see myself using this beautiful collection, over, and over again. And, I have to say, don't these adorable Manor House Creations flowers match the G45 collection perfectly.

I love this photo of my son, Samuel, and his FIANCE (as of last week) :)  :)  Sharnee. I love the way the suns rays are shining behind them. Its the perfect photo for this layout, I think...

Happy National Scrapbook Day from me, and Graphic 45

Today is National Scrapbook day, and to help celebrate, Graphic 45, and the G45 designers have created some amazing layouts, using a stunning sketch, created by Maiko Miwa... As usual, there's lots of prizes to be won over at the Graphic 45 BLOG, so make sure you head on over there, and see what Maiko, and Romy have also done with the sketch.
Sketch design
I really enjoy working with sketches. I normally use them as basic starting point for my layout, then, flip, turn or change the sketch just a little to make it my own. I didn’t really alter Maiko’s sketch at all, it was beautiful as it was, all I did was make my bottom photo slightly larger than the sketch. I am so happy with how this layout turned out. It was one of those rare times when everything just comes together perfectly. But, Botanical tea makes creating beautiful layouts so easy, I truly can’t get enough of this paper collection; I have already created at least 8 projects from it, and still have tonnes of other ideas. If I was ever to design a paper collection, just for me, it would be exactly like this one.
